Custom LSR overmolded smart glasses temple tips are designed for AI glasses, AR eyewear and wearable electronic devices requiring soft-touch, anti-slip and cushioning performance. Liquid silicone rubber is molded directly onto selected areas of a plastic or metal temple insert, creating an integrated soft-touch structure without using a separately assembled silicone sleeve.

During LSR overmolding, the plastic or metal temple insert is positioned inside the mold before liquid silicone rubber is injected around the specified contact area. The silicone typically covers the rear temple section that contacts the ear while hinges, speaker openings, charging contacts, sensors and other functional areas remain exposed.

Important design factors include silicone coverage, wall thickness, shut-off position, insert tolerance, bonding structure and mechanical retention. Holes, grooves or undercut features may be added to the substrate when additional mechanical locking is required.

Silicone hardness, color, surface texture, coverage area, substrate material and retention structure can be customized according to the final eyewear design. Customers may provide 2D drawings, 3D files or physical samples for engineering evaluation.
