Custom LSR Overmolded Speaker and Microphone Sealing Frames

Detail Information
SiliconePlus manufactures custom LSR overmolded speaker and microphone sealing frames for smartphones, wearable electronics, portable devices, industrial terminals and compact electronic assemblies.
Liquid silicone rubber is molded directly onto a precision plastic acoustic frame or housing insert. The silicone section forms the required sealing perimeter, compression edge and flexible interface while keeping the speaker opening or microphone sound channel unobstructed.
SiliconePlus does not supply complete speakers, microphones or standard acoustic mesh. Our service focuses on custom silicone overmolded sealing frames manufactured according to customer drawings, samples and final assembly requirements.
Seal the Acoustic Interface Without Blocking the Sound Path
Speaker and microphone interfaces need a continuous sealing path around the acoustic opening, but the sound channel itself must remain clear.
The overmolded silicone area can be designed around a round, oval, rectangular or irregular acoustic port. It may form a perimeter sealing lip, compression frame, vibration cushion or isolation wall between adjacent openings.
The acoustic opening diameter, channel length, internal cavity and alignment with the device housing should be confirmed by the customer’s acoustic engineering team before tooling.
Critical Acoustic Sealing Design Points
Port Alignment
The speaker or microphone opening must align accurately with the housing aperture and internal acoustic channel.
Compression Control
The sealing lip height and width should provide stable compression without deforming the acoustic opening.
Insert Positioning
The plastic acoustic frame requires reliable mold positioning to control silicone coverage and exposed port dimensions.
Flash Prevention
Mold shut-off areas must limit silicone flash and prevent material from entering the sound path or mesh mounting area.

Custom Overmolding Structures for Acoustic Modules
Different electronic products require different speaker and microphone sealing structures.
A silicone over plastic structure can integrate the soft sealing lip with a rigid acoustic frame. The design may include a single-port seal, dual-port isolation frame, perimeter compression edge, local vibration cushion or reserved acoustic mesh mounting area.
Before tooling, our engineers review plastic material compatibility, insert tolerance, acoustic port clearance, sealing width, mold shut-off, gate position, venting and demolding direction.
Typical Application Projects
Smartphones and Tablets
Used around speaker outlets, microphone openings and compact internal acoustic frames requiring precise sealing.
Wearable Electronics
Suitable for smart watches, health trackers and compact wearable devices exposed to sweat, moisture and repeated use.
Industrial Handheld Devices
Applied to rugged terminals, communication devices and outdoor electronics requiring stable acoustic interface sealing.
Medical and Beauty Electronics
Suitable for portable medical electronics, monitoring equipment and personal care devices with speaker or microphone interfaces.
Inspection and Validation Requirements
Production inspection should cover plastic insert position, acoustic port dimensions, silicone coverage, sealing lip geometry, flash, contamination and visible bonding defects.
Assembly validation may include compression checks, housing fit, air leakage testing and environmental sealing tests according to the customer’s project requirements. Acoustic performance should be verified using the final speaker or microphone module and complete device structure.
SiliconePlus manufacturing capacity supports custom mold development, precision insert positioning, LSR injection molding, sample validation and OEM/ODM mass production.
Send Your Acoustic Sealing Design for DFM Review
Please provide the plastic acoustic frame drawing, device housing structure, speaker or microphone port dimensions, required silicone coverage and estimated production quantity.
The project information should identify the functional sound opening, areas that must remain free of silicone, sealing compression, plastic material, assembly method and validation requirements.
